Elementary librarian - I've started using an avatar instead of photos for my online "presence."  Even my personal Facebook has my avatar as my profile picture.  I also use it for my school book club blog and my Web 2.0 blog.  It might sound a little paranoid, but I like being safe rather than sorry when it comes to my privacy.

Middle School librarian-- I agree.  I have been listening to our teachers who use facebook, (though not for school purposes), and think it more appropriate to use an avatar instead of my photo.  But I would gladly post photos without people in them...
